I have the privilege to report how excellently Greyham Bryant's "Tell your story" session went at the Barnabas discipleship group tonight.
Nine of us met this week and after a time of normal sharing, praising and praying, we started the story telling. After a few minutes of silence while we collected our thoughts and prayed the first person shared their journey of spirituality as per Greyhan's "Tell your story" guidelines.
In our discipleship groups we have code of confidentiality and therefore are fairly open about our experiences, feelings and life's specific and general challenges. We started to get an insight into each other's spiritual journey, upbringing and background.
As a reward, the first storyteller got the privilege of choosing the second person to tell their story - and so on. It was good fun for all.
After the third person had finished their story we had well and truly run over time but this didn't matter because we all felt we had accomplished something very special tonight.
We decided to put the evangelism at work course that we had been enjoying so much on hold for a few weeks and continue "telling our stories" over the next few weeks.
By the time Greyham returns to give Part Two of his teaching series on Spirituality on the 19 November everybody in our group should have finished telling their stories.
I won't try to explain the all benefits that this storytelling is bringing, however at the end of the evening we felt much closer than we had been previously. We had practiced how to talk about our spirituality in a way that I had never dreamed about.
I recommend that everybody who is able to do this does it and prepare to be blessed.
