European Elections 4th June 2009

You will be aware that in the elections on 4th June the BNP (British National Party) is fielding a large number of candidates. The emphasis of our tradition is upon freedom of conscience and it would not be proper for us to tell people how they should vote.
However it is clear that both the policies and the methods of the BNP are diametrically opposed to the Christian gospel, to the belief in the equal value and dignity of all human beings in the sight of God, and to the biblical imperative to welcome the stranger. We wish to encourage all those who are part of the Baptist family to oppose these policies of fear and of hatred with the gospel values of hospitality, courtesy and compassion. You do not need to actually vote for the BNP for them to be elected. The BNP will be elected if we are apathetic by not voting at all, so we strongly urge you to use your vote on June 4th.

Ealing Baptist Prayer Requests

Acton Baptist ask that we pray regarding the continuing disruption of having a their roof replaced, that work is completed soon. Also they are starting a month of prayer in June and want the whole of church to be committed to it. South Hanwell want to be a positive witness to their local community during the Hanwell Carnival. Haven Green ask for continuing prayer for Pastor Carl Hodges' health and for us to pray for their Polish outreach programme. Reverend Pat Took has asked that we continue to pray for the families of Pastor's Renato Melo and Edmundo Espin who have recently died.
